REFEREES
U6-U9 Mod Referee Program
All of the U6-U8 games are done by volunteers. Some of the U9 games are done by young, paid referees. The WSC Mod Referee Program explains these details and gives guidance to refing Mod games.
U10-U19 USSF Referee
Seattle Youth Soccer schedules the referees for the U10-U19 games in the Rec league. They schedule all of the refs for these games.
Seattle Youth Soccer is always in need of new referees. This is very good experience for teenagers, helps the kids playing the game, pays well, and is something wonderful to put on a college resume.
It is a great challenge to become a good referee. Minimum age is 11 years old. Beginning referees start with the younger U10 games. Mentoring will be provided for the new referees.
Entry-level referees should consider the basic Grade 9 involvement. Grade 8 is required to referee the older Rec games.

For Coaches and Parents - Respect for the Game
As an adult involved with youth athletes, you should recognize that you are teaching your players about every aspect of the game. You should model behavior towards game officials as one of sincere respect for the great sport you are playing and teaching others to play. A few more notes are mentioned on the Referees Respect webpage.
