On Saturday March 22nd, Ray Farbarik passed away after a tragic ski accident. Ray had generously served on the WSC Board for about 10 years, serving as President for the past 3. He also coached his daughters on the Lemondrops and Shooting Stars. He was the driving force behind the Player Training and Mod Referee Programs. Ray spent countless hours, doing everything from lining the fields to representing our club with the Seattle Youth Soccer group and the City of Seattle to ensure our field access, that helped make sure the 1100+ kids in WSC had a great opportunity and experience playing soccer.
He is survived by his wife and 2 daughters who have been overwhelmed by the love and support they have received since their loss. The I ♥ Ray Farbarik website (iheartrayfarbarik.com) has been established with information about Ray and his family and how you can support them including a link to donate to the girls' college fund.
In addition, the Ray Farbarik Memorial Fund has been established through SYSA to honor and continue with his commitment and dedication to youth soccer in Seattle. It is clear that Ray has touched so many people within the soccer community. We want to see his Legacy grow through his Memorial Fund and through people stepping up and honoring Ray by volunteering and giving back just a small portion of the time he gave to all of us over the past 10 years. If you'd like to volunteer your time to help support youth soccer in our community please visit our VOLUNTEER section to learn more.
